Solutions : Cleaner energy

We already have the technologies required to transition to cleaner energy sources and change the way we use energy. These include renewable energy technologies, energy-neutral building design and energy-efficient transport options.

Australia has opportunities in renewable energy. For example, Tasmania produces around 70% of its electricity from renewable sources, mainly hydro and wind. South Australia has great potential for wind energy, and has 53% of Australia’s total installed wind generating capacity.

Improvements in technology and new discoveries are being made all the time and Australia has been at the forefront of innovation. Further development and uptake of new technologies will help us move away from fossil fuels and capitalise on the new opportunities in clean energy and energy efficiency.
